HDL-R100HT
High-Temperature Resistance-to-Digital Converter
HDL-R100HT is a high-precision Resistance-to-Digital Converter designed for demanding resistance measurement applications in harsh environments. Leveraging our proprietary TDC-based measurement technology, the device limits the injected measurement energy to the nanojoule range, significantly reducing the risk of ignition in safety-critical and hazardous environments.
Designed for high accuracy, reliability and long-term stability, the HDL-R100HT is developed to support compliance with industry standards and functional safety requirements for mission-critical applications.

Measurement energy limited to the nanojoule range by design.
Proprietary time-to-digital conversion rather than sustained excitation.
High-precision resistance-to-digital conversion for harsh environments.
Why Injected Energy Matters
Every resistance measurement works by putting energy into the element being measured. In an ordinary installation that energy is irrelevant. In an explosive atmosphere it is the whole problem: the certification question is not whether the circuit works but whether it can, under any single fault condition, release enough energy to ignite the surrounding atmosphere.
The conventional answer is to add protection around the measurement — barriers, limiting resistors, galvanic isolation — each of which adds cost, adds components that themselves need a temperature rating, and degrades the measurement it is protecting.
HDL-R100HT takes the energy out of the measurement itself. By deriving resistance from a time-domain measurement rather than a sustained excitation current, the device limits injected energy to the nanojoule range. The safety margin is a property of how the measurement works, not a layer bolted on top of it.

Key Features
- Proprietary TDC-based measurement — Resistance is derived from a time-to-digital conversion rather than a conventional excitation-and-sense approach, which is what makes the low injected energy possible.
- Nanojoule-range injected energy — Measurement energy is limited by design, significantly reducing ignition risk in safety-critical and hazardous environments.
- High accuracy — Designed for demanding resistance measurement where precision has to hold across the operating envelope, not only at room temperature.
- Long-term stability — Specified for applications where the device stays in place and in calibration for years rather than being routinely re-trimmed.
- Developed for standards compliance — Designed to support compliance with industry standards and functional safety requirements for mission-critical applications.
- Harsh-environment rating — Built on the same high-temperature platform as the rest of the Ignis™ family.
